Who we are & what we represent

Image
We are a family including three generations of adventurous, compassionate and independent souls. We believe in always trying to leave our place in time better than we found it. Nana, Paula is a retired teacher who has had a love and relationship with horses since she was a teenager in Southern California. ViviAnne has worked in crisis mental health for over 18 years and values the relationships she holds with family, friends and nature. Mawerdi is busy being a kid and is always excited about traveling to new places! We live on a 40 acre farm in Sandy Oregon and are grateful to see the beauty of Mt Hood everyday.  “Try and leave this world a little better than you found it, and when your turn comes to die, and you can die happy in feeling that at any rate, you have not wasted your time but have done your best.” ~ Baden-Powell, Farewell Message (1941) We have always valued the animals in our lives,  from farm animals to furry friends that sleep by us at night. Gracie Magnolia

Golden Gorgeous Gracie Girl came into our lives by chance and through grief, but we can’t imagine our lives without her. Her first mother was my incredible step mom whom we lost to cancer in July 2021. From the start is was obvious Gracie is not only smart and a sweet girl, adding love and adventure to our home, but truly the perfect addition to our family. Welcome to the family Gracie! She spent the first 9 moths of her life in Arizona and came home to Oregon in October 2021. She immediately fit in, quickly adjusting to the “big dogs” we have in the yard. She was a bit confused at first. Instead of running laps around the house in AZ now she runs laps around the farm.  She quickly became Viv’s hiking dog, it was clear from the beginning that she is am adventurous and curious dog. I’m thankful for her good hiking manners also! One happy girl! She loves every season…especially her days playing in the powder “A dog is the only thing that can mend a crack in your broken heart”  ~ Judy Des

The special place we call home

Image
This place of peace came into our family about 12 years ago and we hope this special place will always remain in the family. This farm, this place we call home, is not only visually stunning but it is a place that has provided healing from the inside out. The view of Mt Hood is daily reminder for strength. Watching the hawks, eagles and owl soar through the sky remind us of our own individual freedoms. Frequently watching beards of elk and deer reminds of all the cycle of life, of our constant evolution and growth. All the experiences in nature allow for these essential times for mindfulness. We want to share this special place with others, for people to enjoy the visual beauty and hopefully receive some mental peace while you’re here.  Welcome to Spirit Farms “I hope you realize that every day is a fresh start for you.  That every sunrise is a new chapter in your life waiting to be written.” ~ Juansen Dizon   We love gardens and enjoyed having a blank palate to work with, it is a

Every sunset brings the promise of a new dawn. ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson Sometimes through loss and change an opportunity arises, a promise of a new beginning. Some of the sweetest moments involve intimidating obstacles and fearful situations. However  these challenges provide growth..and again an opportunity for a few beginning. It is when we have faith through this chaotic unknown, and through determination we succeed. This is the beginning of our new dawn...Welcome to Spirit Farms!
